Objectives
The objectives of the "Managing during a period of restructuring" training course are:
- To gain an in-depth understanding of the role of the manager and the human issues involved in restructuring,
- Develop skills to conduct sensitive communications and manage employees' emotional reactions.
- Identify and prevent psychosocial risks (PSRs) within the team,
- To implement a managerial action plan promoting cohesion, stability, and well-being among teams during and after the restructuring.

Target audience:
The "Managing During Restructuring" training course is designed for all managers who play a leadership and communication role in the context of organizational change.
Prerequisites:
No prerequisites for enrollment in the program
Duration & Organization
Individual or group training (max. 8 people/group).
The training course lasts a total of 14 hours, divided into two consecutive 7-hour days.
The option takes place over half a day, i.e., 3.5 hours.
There are several possible ways of organizing the event.
The course
The "Managing During Restructuring" training course is structured around five main modules:
Understanding the role of the manager and human issues
- Clarify the role of the manager in a restructuring process and the limits of their scope of action.
- Understanding human reactions to sensitive news (fear, anger, shock, etc.)
- Identify difficult-to-anticipate situations and pitfalls to avoid in communication.
- Define the manager's responsibilities in preventing psychosocial risks during periods of uncertainty.
Conduct sensitive communications with clarity and empathy
- Learning how to deliver difficult news in a safe environment,
- Managing strong emotions: anger, crying, freezing up, protesting,
- Use protective communication techniques: active listening, rephrasing, framed messages,
- Practice through simulations and role-playing inspired by real-life situations.
Identifying and preventing psychosocial risks (PSRs)
- Understanding the main individual and collective signs of psychosocial risks,
- Use an operational grid to identify weak signals.
- Learn how to implement simple, concrete actions to prevent burnout, withdrawal, or tension.
- Knowing when and how to alert HR, occupational health services, or internal contacts.
Supporting the team during and after restructuring
- Maintain cohesion and reduce uncertainty through rituals and regular communication.
- Prevent survivor syndrome and support remaining employees,
- Rebalance the workload and restore a stable environment,
- Develop your own managerial approach and strengthen your emotional stability.
Implement an action plan
- Develop a managerial action plan to support the team in the coming weeks.
- Define concrete and immediately applicable actions for monitoring psychosocial risks.
- Identify an action that allows the manager to maintain their own balance.
- Formalize the team's collective action plan,
- Formalize the manager's individual action plan, if necessary.
OPTION – Half-day follow-up (3 to 6 weeks later)
- Feedback from managers on situations they have actually encountered,
- Collective analysis of difficult cases (co-development),
- Adjustment of managerial practices and reinforcement of psychosocial risk prevention measures,
- Consolidation of the collective action plan.
Individual coaching is also available on request.
Target skills
The training course "Managing during a period of restructuring" aims to develop the following skills:

Skill #1 – Managing sensitive and assertive communication: delivering difficult information and managing emotional reactions with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.

Skill #2 – Prevention and management of psychosocial risks (PSRs): identifying signs of stress, tension, or demotivation within the team and implementing concrete actions to prevent PSRs.

Skill #3 – Team guidance and support: maintaining cohesion, supporting remaining employees, and fostering a climate of trust and stability after restructuring.

Skill #4 – Managing and protecting yourself: develop an individual and collective action plan, and manage your own emotional load to remain effective and exemplary during times of change.
Teaching resources and supervision methods
During the "Managing During Restructuring" training course, participants are guided by an expert trainer. The trainer uses the following techniques and tools, among others:
- Theoretical input,
- Individual self-awareness tests ORIENTACTION,
- Role-playing games with real case studies or fictional scenarios,
- Working in subgroups,
- Implementation of a collective action plan,
- Implementation of a personalized action plan if necessary.
Means of organizing face-to-face training
You have a choice of training courses:
- On the premises of ORIENTACTION in Le Mans,
- On-site: The trainer conducts the training at your company’s location (travel and accommodation expenses are included in the quote).
Ways of organizing distance learning
Training will be carried out via synchronous distance learning using the ZOOM tool.
ZOOM connection links will be provided by the Training Center.
Remote pedagogical and technical support and assistance
Support and assistance are provided by the same trainer as the one delivering the training. This support and assistance is provided by email or, in an emergency, by telephone.
The trainer’s contact information is provided to the participant at the start of the training session

The instructor must respond within 48 hours. If the instructor cannot be reached and this time limit has passed, the participant may contact the academic coordinator, whose contact information is provided in the welcome booklet.
Means for monitoring action implementation and results
At the end of the training course, the trainee fills in an attendance sheet and a satisfaction questionnaire, enabling him/her to assess the training's contribution.
People with disabilities
The training is open to the general public, and all types of disabilities will be accommodated within the limits of the skills, human resources, and equipment available as part of the training program.
If ORIENTACTION does not have the material, technical, and human resources to meet the needs of a participant with a disability, that participant will be referred either to the ORIENTACTION group’s disability liaison or to a partner organization within the ORIENTACTION network.
Access procedures and deadlines
All training requests are accompanied by a quote specifying the total cost (including tax) of the training, as well as the dates of the sessions. The quote is sent electronically via email. Once the quote has been accepted and the training agreement signed, the training may begin.
