Objectives

The objectives of the "Strengthen team cohesion by better understanding your colleagues' personalities" training course are :

  • Identify your personality using the Preferences® personality model and test to discover your fundamental preferences and better understand how they influence the way you work and behave on a daily basis.
  • Discover the personalities of your colleagues and manager, and better understand how this influences the way they work and behave on a day-to-day basis. Identify situations that generate "tensions" or, on the contrary, "synergies".
  • Use your understanding of your Preferences® personality to strengthen team cohesion, encourage collaboration on common projects and self-manage tensions or conflicts between team members.

The advantage of the Preferences® test is that it enables us to move away from the logic of "judgment" and towards the logic of mutual understanding. The employee understands that he/she has his/her own way of functioning, and that others have theirs. There isn't necessarily one right way of working, but different ways of doing things. By understanding this, the collaborator stops judging people or actions as "good" or "bad". They try to understand and adapt better. He/she perceives inter-individual differences not as an obstacle, but as an opportunity.

The course

The "Strengthening team cohesion by better understanding your colleagues' personalities" training course is divided into three parts, with an introduction and a conclusion, including an action plan.

Part

INTRODUCTION

  • What is personality and how does it evolve during childhood, adolescence and adulthood?
  • What is the deep personality and the adapted personality?
  • How does the core personality influence the behavior of each
    person?
Part

PART 1: Discovering your personality

Participants are encouraged to discover their personalities through :

  • Préférences® personality test to identify your 5 personality preferences along five dimensions.
Part

PART 2: Discovering your colleagues' personalities

Participants are then asked to identify the personalities of their team members. The idea is that, once they've understood the concepts, they can try to spot them in their colleagues. Finally, participants are asked to present their personality preferences to the rest of the group, enabling each of them to discover the personalities of the other participants. This discovery fosters mutual understanding and has a calming effect on tensions and a beneficial effect on synergies.

Part

PART 3: Using the personality model in real-life situations

3.1 Dividing up the tasks

The Preferences® personality model can be used to encourage collaboration on common projects, based on the aspirations and talents of each individual. If everyone can fully mobilize their talents and act according to their deepest preferences, then every team member will feel valued and fully at home. They'll feel more at ease.

3.2 Better communication

The Preferences® personality model enables you to adopt your own communication style according to the other person's deep-seated preferences. Everyone can adapt their postures, attitudes and communications to promote well-being and efficiency. The aim is to improve communication for more harmonious relationships.

3.3 Managing tensions

Within a team, personality differences inevitably generate tension. It's only natural. The aim here is to get the group to define for itself how it can regulate internal tensions, using the light of personality.

Part

CONCLUSION

The training ends with a reflection and the establishment of an action plan to strengthen team cohesion.

  • Individual action plan,
  • Collective action plan if necessary.

A subscription to the test can also be taken out following the training, so that it can be used freely for recruitment purposes in particular.

We recommend organizing a half-day practice analysis and/or feedback session three to six months after the training with the various participants.
Individual coaching can also be arranged on request.

Target skills

The training aims to acquire :

  • Competency no. 1 : understanding how one's own personality and the personality of human beings in general works, and what impact this has on working behavior within a team.
  • Competency no. 2: Know how to identify fundamental preferences in one's own personality and, by taking a test or observing others, identify fundamental preferences in the personalities of colleagues.
  • Competency no. 3: better understand the personalities of others, encourage collaboration on common projects, identify the causes of certain tensions and ease them more quickly, see complementarities in differences.
