The course

The training consists of three sessions, spaced far enough apart to allow for effective progress in skill development.

Target skills

The "Supporting a beneficiary in managing his/her emotions" training course aims to develop the following skills:

  • Gain a better understanding of what an emotion is, its various components, and its roles and functions,

  • Be able to identify the emotions being felt, describe them accurately, and identify the underlying needs,

  • Being able to adjust the intensity and nature of one’s emotions, and shift one’s emotional states to become more calm and effective.

Teaching resources, methods and supervision techniques

The training program is based on a structured alternation between theoretical instruction and practical exercises such as:

  • Identify and measure emotions and complex emotional states made up of several emotions,
  • Draw an emotional trajectory linked to an event (before, during and after), identifying the nature and intensity of each emotion,
  • Draw up an action plan for experiencing the same event differently, with different emotions.

This training draws on the participant’s personal experience to reinforce learning. In other words, the trainee will experiment with the method and apply it to their own life so that they can then use it with a client.
